Blank Rome, which has been

growing its California family law practice

, said Wednesday that it had added five more family law attorneys, this time from Los Angeles-based Buter, Buzard, Fishbein & Royce.

The small LA firm will shut its doors in the wake of the departures.

The group, led by partners Kristina Royce and Ashley Silberfeld, joined Blank Rome’s matrimonial and family law practice Jan. 1. Also joining the firm are of counsel Glenn Buzard and associates Jacqueline Combs and Ali Fishbein, bringing the Philadelphia-based Am Law 100 firm’s total roster of family law attorneys to 35.

Royce was a name partner at Buter Buzard, where she practiced family law for 18 years, advising individuals in high-stakes, complex financial and custody matters. She called the move to Blank Rome "a really exciting opportunity" for her and Silberfeld and their clients, noting Blank Rome's much larger platform and broad range of practices.

Silberfeld, who joined the boutique firm from Steptoe & Johnson in 2007, noted that Blank Rome had built up a matrimonial practice in New York, calling it "a very unique feature of the big firm that we were attracted to."

"We are excited to help the already exciting Los Angeles office, with Stacy Phillips and her team, to hopefully grow and expand the practice here in Los Angeles," she said.

Blank Rome opened its Los Angeles office in 2009. According to the

firm's website

, it now has about 56 lawyers working in the office. The firm also established a

San Francisco office in 2014

after absorbing California firm Margolis & Tisman.

Buter Buzard will eventually dissolve after the five departures, according to Royce. The remaining partner, Gary Fishbein, is starting his own practice in Los Angeles.

Blank Rome is the second Philadelphia-based firm to absorb a California family law boutique in less than a month.

In December

Fox Rothschild added five-lawyer Apex Family Law in San Francisco, touting its "high-end family law practice."
